Game #6

I betcha this guy scores a goal tonight.
THE GAME

Calgary Flames (3-2-0) @ Detroit Red Wings (3-1-1)

What's that?  The Red Wings are playing hockey?  Thank goodness.  Four days off seemed like an eternity.  Last time we saw the our winged heroes they won in OT at their home away from home, Phoenix.  Tonight they return to the Joe to extinguish the red hot Calgary Flames, who are on a two game winning streak.

THE EXPECTED LINE-UP

Pavel Datsyuk - Henrik Zetterberg - Tomas Holmstrom
Johan Franzen - Valterri Filppula - Todd Bertuzzi
Jiri Hudler - Mike Modano - Danny Cleary
Drew Miller - Darren Helm - Patrick Eaves

Nicklas Lidstrom - Brad Stuart
Niklas Kronwall - Doug Janik
Jakub Kindl - Ruslan Salei

Jimmy Howard (starting)
Chris Osgood

In the press box: Brian Rafalski (knee), Justin Abdelkader (ribs), and Jonathon Ericsson (back spasms)

On IR: Kris Draper (groin)

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
  • The Flames have won their last three games at the Joe.  Will this trend continue?
BRENDAN SMITH

Off until tomorrow when the Griffins host the Milwaukee Admirals, but he spoke about the team's "moose hunting" trip and his fight against Ben Maxwell (Smith appears at the 2:53 mark of the video).

UNCLE LEON'S THOUGHTS

"Grinding and winding is what it will be this Thursday when our beloved Wings take on the fastidious Flames. Howie gets the start, victory goes to the home team -- Wings win 3-1."

EMERSON HOCKEY UPDATE
I was going to write an entire post about Emerson's first hockey game buuuuuuut we lost 13-0 (Yes, that is NOT a typo). We have a lot of kids on the team who have never played hockey before or used to play roller hockey and this is their first time playing on ice.  Long story short...we've got some work to do.  Oh, and I've officially been moved to forward and have been promoted to the second line.  I'm going to do my best to score as many Todd Bertuzzi spin-o-rama goals as I possibly can.

Let's Go Red Wings.
